Lake Powell Adventure!!

So we finally took our little family to Lake Powell for the 1st time this year. It was the twins first Powell trip and we had a great time. Needless to say no trip is complete without a few hiccups. We had taken Blake's parents boat which had just had a part replaced and as we unloaded it and started driving to the houseboat it overheated. As it turns out the part had cracked and we thought we might be stuck in the middle of the lake and end up rowing. This worried me since it was starting to get dark. We did however make it to the houseboat after stopping and shutting the boat off and letting it cool down about 20 times. Then when we got there we started to unload things onto the houseboat and by this time it was dark. I was stepping from my in-laws boat onto the houseboat with a few things in my hands including Blake's ipod, when the ipod slipped out of my hand and fell right between the boats and into the lake. I instantly reached into the water to grab it but it was sinking too fast so I dove completely in to save the ipod clothes, shoes and all. It was turned on so I could see the light but was never able to reach it. When I resurfaced I was still between the boats and Blake was desperately trying to pull me out, but I was just being squashed by the boats so I had to dive back down and swim around to the back of the houseboat so I could get up. I felt horrible and couldn't stop apologizing. Blake was so sweet to not be upset with me but instead was very sympathetic (what a great hubby). Corbin, however was quite shaken by the whole ordeal and kept telling me that he didn't want his Mommy to go in the water cuz he didn't want his Mommy to float away. It took a lot of explaining before he was OK with the situation. After that the rest of the trip was fabulous. We had great weather and a lot of fun!! We did some fishing, tubing and just plain old lounging! I love the lake!

Oh, I love Lake Powell, but I haven't been there in a long time! The twins are getting so big. I can't believe you dove in the lake after an ipod. I bet there is so much stuff at the bottom of that lake. I know we've lost about 10 pairs of sunglasses there!

You are a trooper. I think I would have stood there and said, "Zach, I just dropped your ipod...sorry..." Wow. Looks like you had a blast though.

You are such a good mom---daring to take all the little ones to Lake Powell. But you've got to love that place.
